After making a dream return to Barcelona last summer, Pau Victor has enjoyed a rather curious campaign under the leadership of Hansi Flick.
It is clear that the Spaniard is not among Hansi Flick’s top two choices in the number nine position. But the player’s potential and ability to make a difference cannot be undermined.
That said, Victor’s future at Barça appears bleak, with the forward picking up less than 400 minutes of action in all competitions this season. As a result, there is a strong possibility he could be asked to move on.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Pau Víctor has decided to postpone any talks about his future until the end of the season.
Speaking at an event ahead of the Catalan national team’s friendly against Costa Rica on May 28, the striker made it clear that no decision has been made yet.
“We players are ambitious and want more. I haven’t thought about the future; I’m focused on finishing the season. Afterwards, we’ll have to talk with the club and my representative, and we’ll come to the decision we need to make,” he told the press.

Within the club, opinions are divided. Some believe a loan could be beneficial, allowing the 23-year-old to gain more playing time.
Others suggest that Flick is satisfied with his professionalism and may want to keep him around as a squad player, especially since his contract runs until 2029.
It must be noted that Victor can be a lethal bench option for Barcelona going forward next season, especially with Robert Lewandowski entering the final stages of his career.
With Lewandowski growing old, there might be more pressure on Ferran Torres to deliver, which in turn, could increase Victor’s importance in the first team.
