Barcelona’s sporting management is actively seeking affordable players who can enhance the squad’s competitive level for the upcoming season.

One of the positions that is expected to see reinforcements in the summer transfer window this year is right-back.

Jules Kounde is a key player in Hansi Flick’s tactical setup for that role, and Hector Fort has performed well when given the opportunity. However, the club could be looking for a more experienced option in that position.

Barcelona appreciate Andrei Ratiu

Now, Cadena SER (h/t Mundo Deportivo), has revealed that Rayo Vallecano defender Andrei Ratiu is highly regarded by Barcelona as a potential option to strengthen the backline.

Ratiu has been one of La Liga’s standout performers, following an impressive showing in the last European Championship with Romania.

The 26-year-old defender’s name came up during a meeting between Deco and the agents of Pedri, as they also represent the Romanian.

With a release clause of €25 million and a contract valid until 2028, Ratiu has excelled in his second season at Rayo Vallecano. He has scored one goal and provided two assists in 24 matches across La Liga and the Copa del Rey.

The right-back’s defensive reliability has been evident against top wingers such as Vinicius Jr. and Raphinha.

Ratiu’s strong performances have not gone unnoticed, with other top clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Tottenham, Bayer Leverkusen, and AS Roma also showing interest in securing his services for next season.

Barcelona consider Ratiu a promising option to strengthen the squad for next season, and it remains to be seen whether the club will ultimately pursue his signing.
