FC Barcelona advanced to the Copa del Rey quarter-finals after their win over Real Betis last night. The Blaugranes emerged victorious with a 5-1 scoreline in this game and thus continued on their strong run after their wins over Athletic Club and Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.

The Catalans opened the scoring early after Gavi put them ahead in the 3rd minute. They continued to score goals after regular intervals in this game and had already scored 5 goals on the 75-minute mark. One more goal came in this game after that time, but it was scored by Real Betis in the 84th minute.

While this loan goal from the Verdiblancos was not going to have any impact on the game, it still might have meant a lot to the scorer, as it was scored by the Barcelona loanee, Vitor Roque, who converted the penalty conceded by Jules Kounde for a foul on Jesus Rodriguez. He also missed a great chance to make the score 2-1 at the cusp of half-time as Inaki Pena made a great save.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the striker also talked to the media after the match, and highlighted why it was difficult for his side to win the game, while recognising Barcelona as the best team in the world currently:

“It was very difficult for us because this Barça today is the best team in the world. We didn’t have a good day; we tried, but it wasn’t possible. We weren’t at our best; we tried to press high and close spaces, but it wasn’t possible. Barcelona played a great game and deserved the victory.”

However, the Brazilian was still happy with his goal in this game:

“For me, it was very special. I played here for six months, and I’m happy to have scored a goal with Betis.”

Since his move to the Seville side on loan, Vitor Roque has been slowly regaining his best level. Hopefully, he will continue to thrive and showcase his talents, either at Barcelona or another team, for years to come.
