Inaki Pena’s time at FC Barcelona seems to be coming to an end, with the goalkeeper having fallen out of favour under Hansi Flick.
The 26-year-old La Masia graduate was the preferred option in goal after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s serious injury earlier in the season but has been replaced by Wojciech Szczesny since January this year.
With the veteran Pole making a big impression, Barcelona are now ready to offer him a new contract and keep him at the club beyond this season.
That, coupled with Ter Stegen’s return from injury, when it happens, would spell doom for Pena’s chances of featuring again. As such, a summer departure looks increasingly likely for the shot-stopper.
Building on that, Matteo Moretto now reports that Pena’s future at Barcelona is certainly up in the air, with negotiations over a new contract – his current one expires in 2026 – at a standstill.

The La Masia product yearns to play regularly and be a starter and as such, the possibility of a summer exit looms large.
Earlier this week, reports emerged claiming that Galatasaray, where Pena spent six months on loan in 2022, are interested in re-signing him.
Moretto further corroborates those claims, suggesting that the Turkish giants are indeed keen on a reunion with Pena and contacts have been made to explore the possibility.
Beyond that, the report further states that clubs from England and Spain are also very much attentive to the situation of Pena.
So, if it comes to that, the Barcelona goalkeeper is unlikely to have any shortage of suitors in the summer transfer window.
