After an extremely successful season, Hansi Flick and his Barcelona team will soon begin their preparation for the new season.
The club are expected to play their customary Joan Gamper trophy final as well, though where exactly the game will be held has been a bone of contention.
With Camp Nou not yet fully operational until September, many expected Barcelona to consider other alternatives, especially considering that Montjuic was no longer an option.
However, a recent report from Catalunya Radio (h/t Diario SPORT) has revealed that Barcelona are, in fact, looking to host the Joan Gamper final at Camp Nou this summer.
The match is tentatively scheduled for August 10 and would mark the symbolic return of the team to their historic home. Barcelona may even face Cesc Fabregas’ Como in this customary encounter.
Club president Joan Laporta has expressed a strong desire to bring the Gamper back to Spotify Camp Nou, despite the fact that renovation work is still ongoing.

The report adds that Barça plan to host the event with a reduced capacity of just 25,000 spectators.
This would serve as a “test run” to assess stadium readiness and crowd management before the full reopening later in the year.
There are still logistical challenges, though. Hosting a match at Camp Nou would require construction work to pause temporarily, both before and after the event—a complication the club are aware of.
This may ultimately have a bearing on Camp Nou’s construction progress, which has already missed several deadlines and cannot afford another delay.
