Oscar Mingueza has been a real success story at Celta Vigo this season. The former La Masia prospect has established himself quite well at Celta, emerging as one of the best-performing rights in the league this season.
Mingueza has racked up seven goal involvements in just 19 competitive appearances, even earning a call-up to the Spanish national team last year.
The defender’s performances have not gone unnoticed either, with the player emerging as a top target for Aston Villa in this ongoing January transfer window.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Aston Villa are keen on getting the deal done as soon as possible and as such, they are willing to meet the player’s release clause.
Mingueza’s current deal at Celta Vigo includes a release clause worth only €20 million, which shouldn’t be too much of an issue for a club like Aston Villa.

Barcelona, meanwhile, will be keeping a close eye on this saga as they could be set for an economic boost if the deal does go through.
That is because the Catalans had retained a 50% sell-on fee clause when they had initially sold Mingueza to Celta Vigo.
Therefore, if Aston Villa do activate the €20 million release, Barcelona are set to receive a boost of around €10 million.
This could greatly help the Catalans, especially at a time when the team desperately requires economic injection.
Meanwhile, the report adds that Aston Villa sporting director Monchi was present this past Friday at Vallecas to closely monitor Mingueza’s performance.
It is, therefore, only a matter of time before we see the Spaniard move to the Premier League.
