FC Barcelona are set to take on Athletic Club away from home in La Liga. With the league title already secured, however, the Catalan giants do not exactly have much to play for. Still, Hansi Flick will likely want to end this season with Barcelona on a positive note.
Considering the quality that Athletic Club has and the threat they pose, it would be reasonable to assume that Flick could field a strong starting eleven in this game. With this now being the final official game for Barcelona this season, perhaps a good showing is in order as well.
Here is how Barcelona could line up for this La Liga fixture against Athletic Club.
Expected Line-up:
Goalkeeper: Wojciech Szczesny
With the Polish goalkeeper’s future looking uncertain, there is no telling what happens next. However, this game against Athletic Club might be a good opportunity for him to get one last game in before the matter concerning his future is resolved.
Right-back: Eric Garcia
A hero of sorts in many crucial games this season, Eric Garcia’s performances have been remarkable. Considering the player he was before, his redemption arc seems to have finally taken over and he is more than capable of delivering as a right-back.
Centre-back: Pau Cubarsi
Not many young players in world football can manage the pressures of playing as a centre-back quite like Pau Cubarsi can. With his technical quality and maturity, the young defender remains a key part of this Barcelona team.
Centre-back: Inigo Martinez
Alongside the young defender, Inigo Martinez has presented himself as the real leader in defense this season. His experience and quality are both essential to this team’s success, and this could be a good opportunity to play him.
Left-back: Alejandro Balde
The young left-back possesses all the speed and quality to be a real game-changer for Barcelona. While he could not be available in the most crucial games due to injury, he is now back and ready to deliver.
The Dutch midfielder’s return to form was a pleasant surprise for everyone involved with Barcelona. He brought his technical expertise and great composure on the ball to this young team, and it benefitted everyone around him.

CDM: Pedri
Undeniably among the world’s best players this season, Pedri has had a sensational season. With injuries no longer holding him back, the Spaniard has finally showcased that he has the quality to lead this team to glory.
RAM: Lamine Yamal
The young sensation continues to demand the world’s attention with his surreal displays. Already seen as a Ballon d’Or favorite by many, this could be a good chance for Lamine Yamal to add even more validity to his strong case so far.
His performances in recent weeks have been inconsistent, but this could be a good chance for Dani Olmo to show that he can continue to deliver for Barcelona when needed.
Even though the Brazilian forward may not be in the UEFA Champions League final, he has been one of the most dominant players across the continent this season. This could be a good opportunity for him to finish his season on a strong note.
With the Pichichi now beyond his reach, Robert Lewandowski might as well get another chance to add some extra goals to his impressive tally this season.
