Scorers: Gavi 17', Yamal 52'
Barcelona reached the final of the Supercopa De España courtesy of a 2-0 win in Jeddah over Athletic Club.
Hansi Flick's side took the early upper hand as Gavi poked home a cross from Alejandro Baldé just after a quarter of an hour, capitalising on a strong period for the Blaugrana.
Athletic looked more likely to find a response as the first half went on, as Iñaki Williams offered a threat and forced Wojciech Szczesny to be alert in the Barcelona goal, but Barcelona held onto their advantage heading into the interval.
Seven minutes into the second half, Flick's side took a firmer grip on the game as Gavi turned provider, slipping in Lamine Yamal whose crisp turn and finish put his side 2-0 to the good.
Athletic Club sent on Nico Williams in search of a route back into the tie, and they thought that they had managed to do just that 10 minutes from time when Oscar de Marcos put the ball in the net, only for the offside flag to cut short their celebrations.
Four minutes later, Iñaki Williams slotted low past Szczesny only for the offside flag to again deny them, leaving Barcelona able to see out a relatively comfortable win in the final minutes, and set up a final with one of Real Madrid or Mallorca.
