After a challenging run of fixtures over the past month, Hansi Flick has begun rotating his Barcelona squad as they prepare for a fierce three-way battle for the La Liga title.

With the Catalans having already secured direct qualification for the Champions League Round of 16, their focus now shifts to the league title and the Copa del Rey, where there is still work to be done.

With the gap between Real Madrid and Barcelona reduced to just four points, Flick and his players must now step up. While last week’s narrow victory against Deportivo Alavés was hard-fought, the German manager can take encouragement from the upcoming fixtures, as a key midfielder could return to action sooner rather than later.

The player in question is Dani Olmo. According to Mundo Deportivo, Olmo participated in part of the training session as he continues his recovery. While Flick is unlikely to take any risks, the Spaniard is working hard to be available for the Copa del Rey quarter-final clash against Valencia.

Olmo’s potential return is a welcome boost for the squad, but not all news from training today was positive. Gavi, who suffered a heavy blow to the head during last week’s match against Alavés, did not take part in training today. The Spaniard is still following concussion protocol, which has kept him in the gym while the rest of the team trained on the field.

With another training session scheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m., it will be interesting to see whether Gavi joins the group. Given the potential long-term effects of concussions, his return will be handled with caution.

While Gavi’s availability for the upcoming Copa del Rey clash against Valencia remains uncertain, Dani Olmo’s chances look more promising. He could receive medical clearance ahead of the match, but his involvement remains unlikely unless a desperate situation arises, as Flick may not want to risk an already injury-prone player.
