Barcelona rival Real Madrid for key free agent transfer target | OneFootball

The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona are ready to do battle with their counterparts at arch rivals Real Madrid, over the signing of Alphonso Davies.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Left-back Davies has of course long seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that, ahead of the expiration of his contract with Bayern Munich next summer, the Canadian international has been earmarked as a chief transfer target on the part of the aforementioned Real Madrid.

Los Blancos, in turn, have long been working behind the scenes to secure their 2nd high-profile free agent in the space of 12 months, after landing Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain this past summer.

As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Real will not have it all their own way in the Davies transfer saga.

This comes with Barcelona also hot on the trail of the talented left-back.

As per a report from MD:

‘Barça believe that Davies would give a leap in quality to the current squad and they are not giving up on him. In addition, the Flick factor (Hansi had him in his triumphant Bayern) is an asset that the club believe can carry its weight.’
