The last few days have been a tense few days of standoff between the RFEF and Barcelona with regard to the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
Now that things have seemingly been resolved, reports have emerged regarding what might have happened if the two parties had failed to come to an agreement.
As per ElDesmarque, several Barcelona stars were threatening to strike from the Spanish national team had Dani Olmo and Pau Victor failed to be registered.
The players mentioned were Gavi, Pedri, Pau Cubarsí, Marc Casadó, Lamine Yamal and Fermín López. It is claimed that these players were ready to claim that they had minor injuries or discomfort in order to avoid international duty.
It would appear that these threats were made in solidarity with their teammate, who would have not been able to play for Spain had he failed to have been registered.
Thankfully this situation seems to have been avoided, but it is still interesting to think about the drama that may have taken place had things gone differently.
