Barcelona teenage sensation poised to become third-highest earner after contract extension | OneFootball

Barcelona are closing in on several key renewals this week as the club looks to lock in its core for the future.

Hansi Flick is set to extend his contract until 2027, while Raphinha is expected to sign a new deal until 2029 on Wednesday. But perhaps the most eye-catching development is the long-term agreement with teenage superstar Lamine Yamal.

Yamal to become third-highest earner

According to ElDesmarque, Barça are in advanced talks to tie Yamal down until 2030, with the club ready to offer him a massive new salary worth €16 million per season.

This accounts for a staggering €13 million increase from his current contract. The deal would also include bonuses linked to trophies and the Ballon d’Or, for which Yamal is already considered a contender this year.

If completed, the extension would make Yamal the third highest-paid player in the squad, behind only Robert Lewandowski (€26M) and Frenkie de Jong (€23M).

He would surpass the likes of Jules Kounde, Pedri, and Raphinha, who currently earn between €12–13 million annually.

Yamal would also overtake Ansu Fati, whose €14 million-a-year deal raised eyebrows after his early explosion but has since become a cautionary tale due to injuries.

There are, in fact, voices within the Barcelona camp who are worried Yamal may follow the same route as Fati.

However, the club’s hierarchy, led by president Joan Laporta, is certain that Yamal is worthy of this investment, despite his young age.

Once the deal is done, Barcelona will be able to secure the future of arguably the biggest talent in the world in the years to come. This, in addition to the renewal of Raphinha and Flick, could be integral to the club’s success for the coming future.
