Since the start of 2025, FC Barcelona have renewed the contracts of several important individuals in the first team. The latest person whose renewal was announced by the Catalan club was Hansi Flick, while Raphinha’s renewal is also expected to be announced soon. Before them, players like Ronald Araujo, Gavi, Pedri, Pau Cubarsi, and Inigo Martinez all have seen their contracts extended.

Meanwhile, the Blaugranes have also been careful with their young talents, and one such youngster who also saw his contract extended was the fullback Jofre Torrents.

Jofre Torrents: One of the most promising talents in La Masia

The 18-year-old defender renewed his contract till 2028 last week, and this was a significant achievement for the club as Torrents is one of the most promising talents in La Masia, and is seen to be a player of the same calibre as Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi.

One of the aspects that make the full-back special is his attacking ability, which is helped by his tall and slender physique and his silky left foot, that allows him to excel in dribbling, passing, and shooting.

Torrents has been trained alongside Yamal and Cubarsi, but was unfortunate to suffer an ACL tear in the right knee in 2023. As a result, he was unable to grow on the same lines as these two already established first-team stars. However, the sporting department is already planning for him to play regularly with the reserve team and gradually join the first team.

Preseason with the first team

This intent is quite clear from a report from Mundo Deportivo, which claims that the Barcelona technical staff and sporting department expects the youngster to complete the preseason training with the first team, and travel with Hansi Flick’s men for the tour of Asia.

This will allow Hansi Flick to get a better idea of the player in the friendlies to be players in Japan and South Korea, and the German will also be able to offer him technical and tactical advice. As was the case with Gerard Martin and Alex Valle last year, Jofre Torrents is also expected to get significant playing time with the first team in these friendlies.
