Barcelona are reportedly growing increasingly concerned about Ansu Fati’s declining market value, as highlighted in a recent update by SPORT.

Once viewed as the heir to Lionel Messi, Ansu’s career has been hampered by recurring injuries and a loan spell at Brighton that did not deliver the expected results as well.

As a result, his market value has continued to fall, reflecting his struggles both on and off the pitch. According to Transfermarkt, the forward current market value stands at just €15 million, a sharp €10 million drop from his previous valuation.

This represents a significant fall from his peak value of €80 million in 2020. Since then, injuries and inconsistent performances have contributed to this dramatic decline, with no signs of recovery so far

Right reasons to worry

It has been suggested that the Barcelona management is worried about this devaluation. There are discussions within the club regarding the possibility of offloading Ansu in the upcoming winter transfer window in January.

However, any decision to sell will depend on whether the offers meet the club’s financial conditions, specifically under the 1:1 rule, and if Barcelona can secure a suitable replacement.

One of the main issues affecting Ansu’s development is the lack of playing time. With fierce competition for attacking positions, it has been difficult for him to get regular minutes.

No importance within the team

Although Hansi Flick has successfully revitalised the careers of several players in the Barcelona squad, Ansu has not benefited from this, receiving limited opportunities so far.

Since recovering from a foot injury, Ansu has only managed to play 51 minutes across three matches—2 minutes against Monaco, 26 minutes vs Young Boys, and 23 minutes in the game against Alaves.

As a result, his future at Barcelona remains uncertain, with the winter transfer window potentially offering a resolution if the right conditions are met.
