Molly Bartrip recalls that historic moment in the north London derby last season ahead of our Barclays Women’s Super League encounter with Arsenal next month at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

We are just under a month away until we return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as we welcome the Gunners to N17 on Saturday 16 November (1.45pm UK) and supporters can secure their seats now, with tickets just priced at £15 for adults and £5 for juniors.

This will be our fifth meeting with Arsenal at our world class stadium since 2019 and the last encounter was certainly one to remember as Martha Thomas’ second-half strike secured our first-ever victory over Arsenal in the WSL.

Molly, who is now in her fourth season with the Club, started and played the full 90 minutes in that historic win, being part of the backline that defended resolutely until the very end to preserve what was our first clean sheet in the league at the time.

Speaking at half-time during the Men’s Europa League tie against Qarabag last month at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Molly highlighted that special moment was for the supporters and she pinpointed the exact location Martha’s goal struck the back of the net.

“It was crazy, the supporters were insane… when the ball hit the back of the net, in that corner, I went crazy and lost every single bit of composure in my body and I just went mad,” she told Paul Coyote on the side of the pitch.

“That was down to the fans as well, it was just an insane moment and a huge result for us, creating history and hopefully we can do that again.

“We put our bodies on the line for the rest of the second half, we threw everything at it and I was so proud of everyone from that day.”

Summer signing Ella Morris was also in attendance alongside Molly and the England youth international is excited about the prospect of stepping out on to the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time.

“It’s pretty incredible really,” when asked about her first impressions of the stadium. “I was able to watch the girls win it here (north London derby) last season and I’m excited to help us achieve the same result this time around.

“Being here and looking around the stadium, it just feels me with excitement, and I can’t wait to step onto that pitch with all the girls.”
