Preparations for Gladbach are under way. While Koch and Matanovic begin their recovery and another duo are absent because of colds, the two new strikers are involved.

In the absence of the injured Robin Koch (shoulder) and Igor Matanovic (foot), who were undergoing their recovery programmes, as well as Farès Chaibi and Junior Dina Ebimbe, who sat out because of a cold, new signings Michy Batshuayi and Elye Wahi joined the team for the start of preparations for the upcoming away match at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“As coach, I’m really looking forward to this time. The training sessions are a foundation block for the rest of the season,” Dino Toppmöller had said at the end of January, looking ahead to a February without any midweek fixtures and with solely Bundesliga on the schedule until early March.

On Matchday 21, the Rhineland calls for the primetime clash against Gladbach on Saturday evening. Kick-off at BORUSSIA-PARK is at 18:30 CET.
