Bayern Munich have continued their interest in signing Martin Zubimendi from La Liga side Real Sociedad due to Joshua Kimmich’s future remaining unresolved.
Kimmich’s contract with Bayern Munich ends in July this year and the 29-year-old is still yet to extend his deal with the club.
On Saturday, Kimmich spoke with Sky Sports Germany on why he is yet to sign a new deal.
“Of course there are a lot of good reasons for that,” said Kimmich.
“It’s a fundamental decision for me.”
Bayern will continue to search the market in order to prepare for the worst situation of Kimmich refusing to sign a contract and leaving for another European giant on a free transfer.
Martin Zubimendi has attracted attention from big clubs in Europe such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal, with the Gunners having concrete interest in the midfielder.
The Spaniard has a contract with Sociedad that runs until 2027 but has a release clause of €60 million that can be activated in the summer.
Zubimendi has 15 caps for Spain and was part of the team that won Euro 2024.
