Bologna star’s agent assures he would thrive at Atlético Madrid | OneFootball

The agent of Bologna star Jhon Lucumí has this weekend hinted at interest in the part of his client in making the move to Spain, with Atlético Madrid.

Diego Simeone’s Atlético, it is understood, are on the lookout for reinforcements at the back with a view to next season.

The Rojiblancos brass have long drawn up a shortlist of potential targets for the summer, featuring a whole host of leading names from across the continent.

One such defender to have been tipped as a potential arrival at the Metropolitano is the aforementioned Jhon Lucumí.

Stopper Lucumí is for his part in the midst of a stellar campaign on the books of Italian outfit Bologna, key to the club’s push for both a Champions League berth, and the Coppa Italia title.

Such exploits, inevitably, have given rise to mounting interest in the Colombian’s services.

And speaking to the media this weekend, Lucumí’s agent, Simone Rondanini, confirmed that one such club keen on his client come in the form of the aforementioned Atlético Madrid.

Not only that, but, during an interview with Tuttomercatoweb (as cited by Mundo Deportivo), Rondanini hinted at this interest being very much mutual:

“He wouldn’t be the first Colombian to play there, and they did very well. I’m sure that, given his level, he could make his mark on a team of that caliber. In the Champions League, he achieved significant numbers, comparable to those of the best defenders in the competition, which is where the best players play. The most important thing for him now is to focus on this final part of the season: key matches are coming up and we’ll see his best form.”
