Borussia Dortmund are in talks to sign Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka on loan, according to Jacob Steinberg. The Bundesliga side want to strengthen their midfield before Monday’s deadline having showed previous interest in Manchester City’s James McAtee and Renato Veiga, who has since joined Juventus on loan from the Blues.
This comes after Florian Plettenberg also reported on talks between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea for Chukwuemeka, a player that Nuri Sahin wanted to sign.
Steinberg also adds that it’s not clear as to whether Dortmund wish to include an option or obligation to buy, and that both Juventus and Porto have made inquiries with interest also coming from Everton and West Ham. Porto would certainly have the funds to sign the Englishman following the departure of Galeno to Al-Ahli for €50m.
Die Schwarzgelben are also working on a deal to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon before Monday, while the Bundesliga side have also agreed personal terms with Swedish left-back Daniel Svensson from Nordsjælland.
Niko Kovac also starts his term as Borussia Dortmund head coach on Sunday after club bosses announced the former Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern Munich, AS Monaco and Wolfsburg head coach as Nuri Sahin’s successor following his dismissal last month.
