In today’s press conference, Coach Massimiliano Canzi and Martina Rosucci previewed the clash between Juventus Women First Team and Roma, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow - Saturday 17 May 2025 - at 18:00 (CEST) at Como’s ‘Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia’ in the final of the Women's Coppa Italia.
“Tomorrow will be a great celebration for the whole women's football movement and the excellent response from the fans is confirmation that the choice to play this final in Como was absolutely correct. It will be a great match. I believe that in team sport, cohesion is fundamental and goes beyond any other aspect. We will certainly try to be better than them and I believe that through unity of purpose we can make the difference. The last game we won against Roma, at the ‘Tre Fontane’, we played perfectly. I hope the team can repeat such a high-level performance. Roma are a great team, they have an excellent system of play, they are coached very well by [Alessandro] Spugna and they have extremely important key players. What's more, let's not forget that they are the holders of the Coppa Italia, so they are the favourites in this match.
"Our group is made up of exceptional girls, who understand the importance of moments. We have prepared for the match on a technical and tactical level, but on a mental level there was no need to explain the importance of the stakes. Our goals at the beginning of the season were stated as: we wanted to qualify for the group stage of the Women's Champions League and we succeeded, we wanted to secure a place in next year's UWCL and we wanted to go as far as possible in the Coppa Italia. I would say we went far beyond expectations, so we are very happy. Ours is a beautiful group, a group of wonderful girls who have been on an extraordinary journey. Certainly this journey together has provoked strong feelings, for different reasons. For me it was my first experience at this level of the women’s game. For Martina, who is by my side today, this journey was important because it allowed her to return to playing regularly after a long absence due to injury. Each girl has handled this journey in the best possible way and, together, we have written a beautiful page in the history of our club.”
“To play the Coppa Italia final in such a beautiful stadium is certainly important. It will be a very even game tomorrow against Roma and I'm sure both teams will give everything to try and bring home the trophy. It was undoubtedly an unbelievable season, last Saturday (10 May) we celebrated winning the league at the Allianz Stadium and we also said goodbye to our captain, [Sara] Gama. Sara is irreplaceable. I always try to be myself, trying to be a role model for my teammates. I've been at Juventus since the first day this team was created and I think I embody all the values of this club and try to pass them on every day.
"Going back to the final, we have worked very well this week, we are ready to get out there and try to win the second trophy of our season. It's not every day you get the chance to play a final, we are aware of that. The mental aspect in matches like tomorrow's is crucial, but I'm sure we will all play with one goal in mind: victory. Tomorrow the two teams that have won the most in Italy in recent years will face one another, I'm sure that those who come to the stadium will enjoy a great match. The feeling of being recalled to the national team? I am very happy with the call-up, but at the moment the priority for me is the Coppa Italia final against Roma. However, of course the coach's call has filled me with pride and even just thinking about pulling on Italy’s training kit has provoked strong emotions.”
