Carlo Ancelotti labels Real Madrid star ‘a gift’ after win over Deportiva Minera | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Monday moved to reiterate his appreciation for a leading member of the club’s midfield ranks.

The player in question? Luka Modrić.

Veteran Modrić featured from the off this evening, as Real Madrid made the trip to minnows Deportiva Minera with a place in the Last-16 of the Copa del Rey on the line.

And the Croatian played a starring role, en route to an eventual 5-0 Blancos triumph.

Modrić even managed to chip in with the visitors’ 4th of the evening, courtesy of a wonderful exchange with Brahim Díaz, followed by a pinpoint finish.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at the Estadio Cartagonova, the name of his engine room standout was in turn put to the aforementioned Carlo Ancelotti once more.

And Real Madrid’s headmaster made use of the opportunity to label Modrić ‘a gift’:

“Modrić? He is a gift for football and especially for those who can enjoy it up close. The fans, the players, the coach… For me, he is a great gift.”
