Product of Inter academy Cesare Casadei has joined Torino from Chelsea and the promising midfielder will have a chance to prove his worth and get his first Italy-call up in the coming months.

Casadei has returned to Italy to play for Torino after the Granata won a transfer battle with Lazio to secure the signature of the U21 Italy midfielder.

Lazio have been one of the most surprising Serie A teams this season as they are fighting for the top four and dominating the league phase of the Europa League. Marco Baroni’s side are one of the favourites to win the second-most important European trophy this season and succeed 2023-24 champions Atalanta. Being odds-on to win doesn’t guarantee success, but, just like playing online games at cherryredcasino.com, you can win big even if the odds are very long. For example, the odds of your number coming up on the roulette table is about 40/1, but, just like an underdog winning the league, it can happen.

Nevertheless, Casadei picked Torino after the Granata reached a full agreement with Chelsea and Paolo Vanoli can, on paper, offer more playing time to the midfielder than Lazio.

Casadei will boost Torino’s options in the middle of the park having the chance to be deployed in different positions. The 22-year-old can play as an attacking midfielder or as a holding midfielder, a role he’s covered over the last few months under Enzo Maresca at Chelsea.

“The coach has asked me to drop a little this season. Let’s say as a holding midfielder,” the Italian talent said in October.

“When you play high up the pitch, you can take some risks too, but you can’t do that in defence as an error would be bigger. So, I do simple things for the team. I have more touches, so I have to manage them well. It’s important to cover more roles for my career. I must be ready to play in every position he wants me to play.

“I am a professional who is not affected by mistakes. All humans make them, but it’s important to react immediately. It’s about mentality and mental strength, to me this is the personality on the pitch.”

As an attacking midfielder, Casadei became the best player at the latest U20 World Cup as well as the highest goal-scorer in the competition.

In recent months, he’s been evolving tactically and it will be interesting to understand how he will continue developing in Turin.

Italy national team coach Luciano Spalletti will surely be keeping a close eye on the versatile midfielder. The Certaldo-born boss is always looking for players with technical ability and physical strength.

Spalletti already mentioned Casadei as a potential newcomer in the Italy squad more than a year ago when the 22-year-old was on loan from Chelsea to Leicester City.

Now that Casadei is back to the Belpaese, Spalletti will have a chance to watch him in action every week, and if he does well at the Olimpico, it won’t take long before he gets his first Azzurri call-up.
