Cesc Fabregas revealed how he missed out on a summer deal to sign former Barcelona teammate Pedro at Como.
Fabregas steered Como back to Serie A for the 2024/25 campaign after a 21-year absence from the Italian top-flight.
The former midfielder bolstered his squad with a host of summer transfers including a free transfer for outgoing Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto.
However, Fabregas is consistently ambitious with where he wants Como to be, and he wanted to bring in the experienced figure of Pedro.
The 37-year-old was rumoured to be open to an exit from Lazio, in pursuit of a fresh challenge, but Fabregas was frustrated as the deal was left until the last minute.
“On the last day of the transfer market I sent him a message to find out the situation, as one of my scouts told me he was out of the Lazio project”, as per DAZN, via Mundo Deportivo.
“As a friend I reached out. But it was too late, it was August 31 at 7pm, he was not around!”
As a reminder to his old friend, Pedro netted for Lazio in their 5-1 midweek Serie A win at Fabregas’ Como, with the latter currently 15th in the table, after 10 games played.
