Earlier today, L’Équipe reported that Olympique Lyonnais had reached an agreement worth €17m for the transfer of midfielder and academy graduate Maxence Caqueret (24) to Serie A side Como. We now know the details over the Frenchman’s contract thanks to a report from Foot Mercato. FM journalist Dahbia Hattabi has reported that the transfer fee will be just below €20m, with bonuses included. It is reported that Caqueret will earn a large salary of around €300,000 and €350,000 per week at the club owned and managed by former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas. It was indeed Fabregas, according to Hattabi, that had worked hard to convince the player to move away from his hometown club. It seems like those efforts have paid off, with the Frenchman also reportedly set to sign a three-and-a-half year deal at the Italian club, according to sources close to the club relayed by Foot Mercato.Caqueret had fallen down the midfield pecking order since the arrival of Pierre Sage as head coach with Les Gones. The likes of Corentin Tolisso, Nemanja Matic, Jordan Veretout, and new signing Tanner Tessmann have all been offered more favourable game time than the OL academy graduate. Caqueret’s current contract with Lyon was set to expire in 2027. GFFN | George Boxall
