The Tigers are reportedly considering making a major change to their first-team staff.

Championship clubs and other teams in the EFL are very interested in Hull City manager Ruben Selles, who is said to be at risk of losing his job at the MKM Stadium.

Following the final game of the season, in which Selles officially confirmed that he'd completed the task he'd been set when he first arrived in Humberside in December - to steer the club to second tier survival - it emerged from local journalist Mike White that Hull were reportedly considering getting rid of their manager.

He then named recently sacked West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Mowbray as an option that the Tigers were considering to replace Selles, although talkSPORT's Alex Crook later stated his understanding that Mowbray was not on Hull's radar.

Championship clubs on standby, awaiting Hull City, Ruben Selles decision

The 41-year-old was brought over by Hull following the disaster that was Tim Walter's rein at the helm of the first-team. Selles had done an excellent job at Reading, stabilising the club amid huge off-the-pitch distractions, courtesy of the owner's poor running of the club, which eventually led to problems that affected his team.

Still, despite the points deductions, lack of proper nutrition for his players, being unable to stay over in hotels the night before games, all done with the purpose of cutting costs, Reading were a play-off contending team in League One when he left, and Hull have been pretty much a mid-table side since he joined.

Given his success in his current and previous roles, fellow second tier clubs and other EFL outfits have "registered concrete interest" in Selles as his future with Hull becomes murkier, according to Mike McGrath of The Telegraph. He added that City are yet to make a decision on the manager.

Championship clubs must look to recreate RC Strasbourg, Liam Rosenior situation

Hull are by no means the most trigger-happy club in the Championship when it comes to managers. That crown is, and always will be, exclusively reserved for Watford, until they either get relegated or promoted. The Tigers have shown a bit of the Hornets' tendencies over the past year, though.

If they decide to part ways with Selles and get a new boss, like Mowbray, before the start of next season, Hull will have gone through four bosses in the span of roughly a year.

The manager that kick-started this trend was Liam Rosenior. He almost had City in the play-offs last season but was surprisingly sacked not long after the campaign concluded.

Since then, he has become the boss of RC Strasbourg, a French first division side, who are now challenging for a spot in next season's Champions League. It's safe to say that Hull made a huge mistake by getting rid of Rosenior, one that Strasbourg were able to hugely profit from. Championship teams should be looking to do the same with Selles now.

They could potentially pick up a very well-regarded young coach, unexpectedly, who has done a minimum of a solid job in his last two postings, no matter which way you look at it.

All the interest in him should really make the Tigers' hierarchy think twice about whether the grass will actually be greener, because it wasn't last time when Rosenior was sacked. Hull supporters were hoping that Ilicali had learned from his mistake, but it does not quite appear that way.
