Axel Disasi has agreed personal terms with Aston Villa ahead of a potential move to the club from Chelsea.

Aston Villa are working to bring in a centre-back before next Monday’s transfer deadline, amid injuries to Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings.

The latter was withdrawn during the draw with West Ham on Sunday and left the field in tears after a tackle from Mohammed Kudus. The England international previously missed 445 days after damaging his ACL.

Unai Emery is further depleted of options after the sale of Diego Carlos to Fenerbahce this month. Following the West Ham game, Emery hinted at the signing of a centre-back before the deadline.

“We are trying to be intelligent and make the better decisions transfer window. It’s not easy to change some players in this window. We did with Jaden (Philogene) and (Donyell) Malen and with Kosta (Nedeljković) – he is close to leaving – and a centre-back we didn’t do because we are now involved in it.”

Disasi has emerged as a target and is open to leaving Chelsea. The France international has started just four games in the Premier League this season and is keen to move on in search of a regular role.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Disasi has now agreed personal terms with Aston Villa and has given the ‘green light’ to a move to Villa Park. He has snubbed interest from clubs across Europe after holding direct talks with Emery.

The two clubs will now negotiate in a bid to reach an agreement. It is unclear whether Villa are interested in a permanent transfer or loan deal at this stage.

Disasi signed for Chelsea in a £38.5m deal from AS Monaco in 2023 and made 44 appearances in all competitions last season. However, his minutes have decreased following the appointment of Enzo Maresca as head coach in the summer. The 26-year-old has won five caps for France at international level.
