Reports linking Chelsea with a move for Paris Saint Germain’s sporting advisor Luis Campos are understood to be wide of the mark according to Ben Jacobs.

The Blues currently have Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart as their sporting directors, with the pair coming in for a lot of criticism from fans, especially after the disappointing January window.

Despite the obvious holes in the squad Chelsea only signed Mathis Amougou from St Etienne, who’s yet to play, whilst they paid the price for not signing a striker, with Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu both picking up injuries on deadline day.

Chelsea not in for Luis Campos

Why Chelsea have two sporting directors and not one is unclear, and the upcoming summer window has taken on huge importance, with the Blues said to be prioritising a striker and winger.

Recent reports have suggested Chelsea are looking to appoint Campos as a CEO of football, and given his track record at the likes of Lille, Monaco and PSG you can see why fans would be excited by the possibility.

However, it appears Campos won’t be coming to Stamford Bridge after Jacobs provided an update on the situation.

He took to X.com and said:

“Understand links with Luis Campos and Chelsea are wide of the mark. Chelsea not currently looking for a ‘CEO of Football’, or to bring in Campos in any capacity.

“Chelsea value their current recruitment team, led by the sporting directors, who continue to work closely with Enzo Maresca.

“PSG are still working on Campos extending. Although freelance, the terms of his PSG contract both now, and if a renewal is agreed, prevent him from working with any Premier League club while contracted to the French champions.”

Campos has a clear eye for talent and has been responsible in signing Gabriel Magalhaes and Victor Osimhen whilst at Lille and Bernardo Silva during his time at Monaco.

He’s one of the best in the business and would be a huge upgrade for Chelsea, but now it seems any potential move is off the cards.
