Ahead of the reformatted 2025 eChampions League, here are all the key details before City’s three FC pros go to battle against Europe’s best players.
To begin the competition, the first two days, on 16 and 17 May, will see all 36 competitors take to the mainstage in the League Stage.
Their standing in the table after the League Stage determines which round of May 18th’s Knockout Stage they will enter.
The three-day event will be held in Manchester at Dock10 in Media City.
The Finals for the eCL will take place at the Eisbach Studios in Munich on 28 May.
Representing City at the prestigious competition is Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt and Matias Bonanno after they lifted a record-breaking second successive ePremier League title together.
However, unlike the ePL, they will compete at the eChampions League separately.
Ander ‘Neat’ Tobal, who joined City’s roster last summer, qualified for the eCL after placing second in the eLiga Portugal Finals whilst on loan for Santa Clara.
And he will continue to represent the Portuguese outfit throughout the eChampions League.
Similar to the new format of the Champions League, the eCL will see each pro play six different opponents across the first two days.
The top eight after Gameweek six will automatically qualify for the Round of 16 in Sunday’s Knockouts.
The top nine to 24 ranked pros will progress to the Knockout Play-offs with the remaining 12 FC players seeing their eChampions League journey coming to an end.
On the third day of the competition, the format will transition to a single-elimination bracket.
For those who automatically qualify for the Round of 16 from the League Stage, only one will be needed to place in the top eight who progress to the Finals at the end of May.
And for the pros who start in the Play-offs, back-to-back wins will see them make the Finals.
Once the top eight is confirmed, the pros will then continue to play in single-elimination quarter-finals, semi-finals and final to complete proceedings.
All of the action will unfold live on EA SPORTS FC’s Twitch channel.
