Manchester City are up to third in the Premier League after a 1-0 win at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The visitors went into this game on the back of six straight wins but a seventh always looked like a tall ask for Vítor Pereira's side, especially with City on their own winning streak.

It turned out to be a drab affair though with the key moment of the game coming in the 35th minute.

Jérémy Doku received the ball on the left channel and got into the area before pulling the ball back for Kevin De Bruyne, in his penultimate home game for the Citizens, to apply the finishing touch.

The home side didn't put the pedal down from that point on but at the same, they didn't need to with Wolves failing to create many chances of note.

Matheus Cunha has been strongly linked with City's crosstown rivals Manchester United and he would have made his suitors even more interested had his effort early in the second half not hit the post.

Wolves could have been down to 10 men later on when Rayan Aït-Nouri's studs caught Bernardo Silva on the ankle. The referee didn't give a card on the pitch and the Algerian survived a VAR check.

That win moves City up to the third place ahead of Newcastle United and now just three points behind Arsenal who host Bournemouth tomorrow.
