AC Milan were back in training at Milanello today and some positive news came regarding two players who have been injured for some time.

Unfortunately, Sergio Conceicao will have to do without both Mike Maignan and Strahinja Pavlovic for the game against Lecce on Saturday evening. The Serbian centre-back got a red card which was upheld, but the news regarding the goalkeeper was a bit more of a shock.

As Calciomercato.com report, Marco Sportiello – the back-up goalkeeper – is preparing for a rare start. Lorenzo Torriani will also be called up, who this season has been included in the squad as third goalkeeper, a role that will be filled on the bench by Noah Raveyre.

Sportiello has only been used in one match this season back on 3 December 2024, in the Coppa Italia round of 16 against Sassuolo, a 6-1 win for the Rossoneri.

It was 45 minutes of absolute tranquility, then he was replaced at half-time by Torriani. In the league, the former Fiorentina man has not played in Serie A since 18 May 2024, during the match lost 3-1 at home to Torino.

They go on to add that Alessandro Florenzi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are nearing the end of their recovery from their injuries and, by the beginning of next week, they could be back in training with the rest of the squad.

Florenzi ruptured his cruciate ligament at the beginning of the season and has not played a competitive game in 2024-25, while Loftus Cheek was struggling with a relapse of the injury to his thigh adductors.
