Antonio Conte has sent a message of congratulations to his former club Inter, following their qualification to the Champions League semi-finals after a 4-3 aggregate victory against Bayern Munich over the last two weeks: ‘It’s good for Italian football’.
The Nerazzurri set up a two-legged semi-final date with Barcelona thanks to a 4-3 aggregate victory over Bayern Munich over the last two midweek slots.
Goals from Lautaro Martinez and Davide Frattesi gave Simone Inzaghi’s side a 2-1 lead in Bavaria, before a 2-2 draw in San Siro on Wednesday night: Lautaro and Benjamin Pavard with the goals on that occasion.
This means that Inter have now qualified for two Champions League semi-finals over the last three campaigns, following their run to the final against Manchester City in 2023.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Napoli’s game against Monza, Conte took time to send a message of congratulations to Inter, Napoli’s rivals for the Serie A title, and explained why their progression is of benefit to the rest of the league.
He feels that Inter’s consistent success in the Champions League in recent seasons is testament to the strength and competitiveness of Serie A as a whole.
“Congratulations to Inter, in the semi-finals after beating a strong team,” Conte told the press on Friday.

“As a football person who has Inter as an opponent, we have to congratulate them. We didn’t need this game to understand how strong they are: It’s no coincidence that they’re in the running in all competitions, and this strengthens the league we are playing in.
“They’re doing something important, it’s good for Italian football. In recent years, they’ve always been respected, there’s not much more to say: It’s their third consecutive year. One year can happen by chance, but if it happens every year it means that Italian football is at a high level.”
