The 2024 MLS Newcomer of the Year is highly coveted outside of MLS. He joined the Los Angeles Galaxy in January last year after playing for Vasco da Gama.

Gabriel Pec scored 16 times and recorded 14 assists in his first season in the league. He did so in 30 games. The Brazilian forward added three more scores and three additional assists during the LA Galaxy's postseason run toward their sixth MLS title.

"When you have a winger that is a quadruple threat and doesn’t just kind of have one thing, it becomes almost undefendable."Greg Vanney, Head Coach of the LA Galaxy

Riqui Puig is recovering from his ACL surgery still and teammate Joseph Paintsil is slated to miss another couple weeks, at least, with a leg injury of his own.

Not many envisioned the defending MLS champions going winless in their first four games of the 2025 regular season. Following Sunday's 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers, the LA Galaxy are 0-1-3 entering next weekend when they travel to play Minnesota United FC.

What are the chances that Pec finishes the season with the LA Galaxy?

Of the top four scorers from last year's LA Galaxy squad, Pec is the only one currently playing. As mentioned, Puig and Paintsil are nursing physical ailments, and Dejan Joveljic has since been traded.

According to an article with OneFootball.com, Pec has been "catching the eyes of clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool." This is relevant as earlier this month, the Los Angeles Galaxy announced that it has ran out of General Allocation Money for 2025.

The Brazilian winger has the ball skills, scoring ability and tenacity to contribute amongst the European clubs. "He could be the ideal replacement for players like Diogo Jota or even Darwin Núñez (of Liverpool), who are either aging out or struggling to hold down a spot."

While this is just an ongoing rumor regarding Pec being loaned out, it could gain more traction with each and every loss by the LA Galaxy. If Will Kuntz, the general manager of the LA Galaxy, decides to shop the 24-year-old star, there will not be a lack of a buyer.

The Los Angeles Galaxy play their fifth regular season of 2025 on Saturday against another playoff team from last year. They travel to the Twin Cities to play Minnesota United FC on March 22.
