David Beckham lavishes praise on Real Madrid rising star – ‘Exceptional player’ | OneFootball

Not many players have adapted to Real Madrid as swiftly as Jude Bellingham did last season.

Arriving from Borussia Dortmund, the Englishman wasted no time in establishing himself as a regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and took home not only a La Liga title but also the UEFA Champions League.

Bellingham’s start to the new season has not been as bright, but a big part of that is down to the change in formation which sees him in a very different role compared to last season.

Nevertheless, he continues to be one of the most magical presences for Los Blancos week in and week out.

Beckham praises Bellingham

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE podcast, Real Madrid legend David Beckham was asked about Jude Bellingham and the influence the youngster has asserted on the club at such a young age.

“Players like Jude, moving to Real Madrid at such a young age, and doing what he’s done in his first season, is exceptional,” Beckham began on the Englishman.

He then praised the former Borussia Dortmund man for the decisions he has made along the course of his short career so far and how they were always well-timed.

“I think the decisions Jude has made over the years, from Birmingham to Dortmund, for a player that’s so young to make those decisions, to take those challenges, says something about him as a person. And also the people around him.”

The club legend then spoke on how Bellingham was daring to push for new challenges and move outside his comfort zone, saying,

“Because to take on such challenges at such a young age, it’s been great for his career. To give him the experience of going abroad and playing – I think has been unbelievable decision on his part.”

Finally, Beckham was asked what made Bellingham such a loved figure at Santiago Bernabeu to which he stressed that it was not just the player’s quality on the field.

“I don’t think it’s just Jude’s performances that have gained the love of Madrid and Real Madrid fans”

“What he’s done is arrive as a humble person, which he is, he is a hardworking person, he wants to learn the language, he is an exceptional player, and the work rate he does in a game,” he added.
