Lazio are reportedly in talks with Napoli over the potential transfer of wantaway winger Cyril Ngonge.
The 24-year-old is a Belgium international who had experiences at Anderlecht, Club Brugge and PSV Eindhoven among others. He eventually made the move to Hellas Verona in January 2023 and became an instant hit with the supporters thanks to his decisive contributions.
Last January, the Gialloblu decided to cash in on the winger when Napoli offered them €18 million. However, Ngonge has been struggling for relevance at the Stadio Maradona in the past 12 months, only making eight appearances in Serie A this term (one as a starter). Hence, he could be looking for a way out to reignite his playing career.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Lazio have launched an onslaught for the Belgian winger as they look to reunite him with his former Verona boss Marco Baroni. The transfer market insider claims that the two clubs are currently negotiating a loan move with an obligation to buy, insisting the deal is now very much ‘on’.
The Partenopei have already parted ways with their star winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who joined Paris Saint-Germain in recent days. However, Romano insists that reinforcement are coming for Antonio Conte, as the club is negotiating with several wingers. Hence, Ngonge could remain surplus to requirements.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if one of Lazio’s wingers would have to make way for the Belgian’s arrival. Loum Tchaouna has been tipped to join Bologna in recent days, possibly in exchange for Giovanni Fabbian.
