Austin FC have begun their off-season quietly, and by cutting a heavy salary in striker Gyasi Zardes. The club used a contract buyout on the former U.S. international, opening up some salary for the 2025 season.

The 33 year old now becomes a free agent after 67 games in Austin. The former 2x MLS Cup Champion now looks to find a new home within the league and win another trophy in the later part of his career. Last season Zardes cracked MLS’s top 10 all time regular season goal scoring charts and sits at 106 career MLS goals.

To me, signing Zardes all depends on the right deal. If he is willing to take less money I think that any contender should look into him. LA Galaxy, Inter Miami, FC Cincinnati, maybe even a Columbus Crew reunion would be all spots I’d love to see him play at in 2025.
