According to a report from Téléfoot, Didier Deschamps travelled to Madrid at the end of last year to discuss Kylian Mbappé’s (25) future as the captain of the France national team. This conversation developed after the Real Madrid forward was absent from two consecutive Les Bleus squads despite seemingly being fit and available.

Mbappé has been included in Deschamps’ latest France squad as they prepare for a double header against Croatia in the upcoming international break. However, it has now been revealed that crisis talks took place between the pair to discuss the 25-year-old’s position as captain after a turbulent few months for the former PSG attacker.

The conversations appeared to have been successful after the Les Bleus boss travelled to the Spanish capital to see Mbappé personally. Retention was the topic of the conversation as Deschamps had no intention of removing the France international’s captaincy.
