Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United teenager Bendito Mantato is poised to sign his first professional contract with the club.
The 17-year-old is an England 17 starlet of Angolan origins. He joined the Red Devils’ academy from a tender age, and was promoted to the club’s U18 side last summer.
The winger has been a regular feature this season, making 11 appearances in the U18 Premier League, scoring seven goals in the process.
Mantato also featured for United’s U21 side on four occasions in the Premier League 2, and managed to impress by scoring two goals and providing three assists.
The teenager’s exploits for the youth ranks haven’t gone unnoticed at Carrington, as he became the latest youngster to receive a call-up to join Ruben Amorim’s ranks.
The Portuguese manager added Mantato to the squad that travelled to Spain to take on Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final later on Thursday.
Nevertheless, there is more good news in store for the youngster, as Romano confirms he’s about to sign his first professional contract.
“Bendito Mantato has travelled with Man United squad… and then he will sign pro deal at Man United until June 2029,” posted the Italian journalist on his X account.

Mantato mostly plays as an advanced right winger, but can also feature on the opposite wing, and occasionally as a fullback.
The English Angolan isn’t the first Man Utd prospect to he handed the opportunity to join the seniors this season, as the young contingent has been growing in recent weeks.
Aided by an injury crisis, Ayden Heaven swiftly broke into the first team following his January move to Arsenal. Chido Obi Martin has also made several appearances in the Premier League, and the same goes for Harry Amass who became a regular feature in the starting lineup over the past few weeks.
