Denzel Dumfries could remain sidelined longer than expected, posing a major problem for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi as his team grapples with injuries at a crucial moment in the season, with key games across all competitions coming thick and fast.
The Dutch star was among the players unavailable for the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Milan on Wednesday, alongside Lautaro Martinez, Federico Dimarco, and Marko Arnautovic. However, the latter two were formally included on the bench despite being unable to contribute, as Inzaghi revealed.

It was initially believed that Dumfries would be fit in time for the first of two Champions League clashes against Bayern Munich on April 8, but the latest reports suggest his recovery from a hamstring injury could take significantly longer.
According to FcInter1908, Inter might have to wait three to four weeks for the Dutch international’s return. This means he could miss the entire two-legged Champions League quarter-final, as well as the crucial Serie A clash against Bologna on Easter Day and the second leg against Milan.

If confirmed, Dumfries’ extended absence would be a major blow for Inzaghi, whose only natural replacement in that role is Matteo Darmian—who himself has only recently returned from injury.
Furthermore, the Italian coach would be without one of Inter’s standout performers this season. With six goals and two assists in 25 Serie A appearances, the 28-year-old has been a constant threat to opponents down his flank.
