Durham defender Robson announces pregnancy | OneFootball

Durham defender Sarah Robson has announced the news that she is pregnant.

The 37-year-old Northern Ireland international announced the news via a post on her personal X account this evening.

Robson will now miss the remainder of the current season as her pregnancy progresses. She is expecting to give birth in April 2025 and will have the full support of the club throughout her pregnancy.

The veteran defender has made six appearances for Durham in this season’s Barclays Women’s Championship with five of those outings coming from the bench. She was a substitute as The Wildcats were defeated 2-1 by Sunderland at Maiden Castle on Sunday afternoon in the A690 derby. Robson will now be supporting the team from the sidelines as she prepares to welcome the newest member of her family.

Robson steps back from her first team involvement having helped Durham to an excellent start to the new Barclays Women’s Championship season. The Wildcats have taken 12 points from an available 18 so far and they find themselves in fourth position in the league table. Durham won’t need many more points to secure their league status for next season while the club could maintain a challenge in the top half of the table.

Durham continue the season without Robson’s services when they travel to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday 3 November 2024.
