Eddie Howe could be sacked by Newcastle United at the end of the season – John Barnes

Some ‘interesting’ comments from John Barnes about Newcastle United and Eddie Howe.
The player turned pundit commenting after NUFC outclassed his beloved Liverpool on Sunday.
Eddie Howe delivered the first domestic trophy to Newcastle United fans in 70 years, the first silverware of any kind in 56 years.
Whilst if Newcastle win their game in hand on their Champions League qualification rivals, a match at home to Crystal Palace, that would put them fourth in the Premier League.
Yet for John Barnes, the ‘important’ point he wants to bring up is that Eddie Howe could be sacked by Newcastle United at the end of this season…
John Barnes talking to Poker Scout about Eddie Howe and Newcastle United after Sunday’s trophy win at Wembley over Liverpool:
‘The best teams and players make winning a habit. You have to be consistent if you want to be a top player or a top football club.
Whereas if a player thinks we’ve won a trophy, I can relax now, they’re just going to rest on their laurels and then lose every game between now and the end of the season, and think, that’s okay because we’ve won a trophy.
What big players and champions do is recognise they’ve won, then continue to give 100% and forget about it.
And then of course at the end of the season, or at the end of your career, you may look back and say well you’ve won. But some people want to win the trophy in March and then forget the rest of the season.
If Eddie Howe is going to lose every game between now and the end of the season, I think he’d get the sack. I don’t think he’d be happy if that happened just because he won a trophy.
Newcastle would like to think they could challenge for fourth spot, and they have done for the last two or three years, and they got in the Champions League.
Is winning the Carabao Cup a springboard? I don’t think that this is. I don’t think had they not won, they wouldn’t have been challenging.
Your league form is really a springboard for you to challenge either to win the league or to be regularly in the top four. Winning the cup doesn’t mean all of a sudden in the league you’re going to be winning the league or finishing first or second.
It’s a feel-good factor that it brings to the city, to the club. If they celebrate too much, they may not win too many matches. But I don’t think all of a sudden they’re going to be winning the league because they won the Carabao Cup.’
Have you ever heard anything so daft.
Surely you could say that about any manager, if they lose all their matches they will end up getting the sack.
If anybody is under pressure, it is surely Arne Slot.
Why isn’t John Barnes raising the potential of Liverpool sacking their manager if he loses the rest of his matches this season?
Eddie Howe and Newcastle United are on the up with massive confidence and momentum now, Arne Slot and Liverpool the complete opposite.
Surely John Barnes should be saying Arne Slot is for the push if he loses the final nine matches, which would make it eleven losses in a row in total, a run which would see Liverpool lose out on the Premier League title. An eleven match losing run which will have also included going out of the Champions League to PSG and comprehensively beaten by Newcastle United at Wembley.
