Barcelona forward Raphina bagged a brace – both coming from the spot – with further goals from Fulham’s Andreas Pereira and Luiz Henrique of Botafogo.

Dorival Junior’s side moved up to fourth spot in the South American section of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, up from sixth, with the top six sides from a ten-team league going through automatically to the tournament in Canada, Mexico and USA.

Raphina opened the scoring from the spot on 37 minutes following a handball in the box as he neatly placed it past Pedro Gallese.

Savinho won the second penalty after being fouled by Carlos Zambrano and Raphina scored his and Brazil’s second on 54 minutes.

Andreas Pereira volleyed home the third on 71 minutes moments after coming on in place of Savinho.

Henrique put the game beyond doubt three minutes later when he produced an impressive curled effort on 74 minutes after showing silky-smooth skills in the build-up to create the chance.

Brazil are next in action on Thursday 14 November, kick-off 21:00 (UK), as they travel to Venezuela, eighth in the table, for more World Cup qualifying.
