Enzo Maresca has opened up on what he believes is the hardest part of management following a good start to life at Chelsea.
The Blues have exceeded expectations this season and currently sit fourth, although they are winless in their last four Premier League games, with the gap to Newcastle in fifth now just one point.
This current run of two points from 12 and two goals in the last four matches is Maresca’s first big test since he replaced Mauricio Pochettino in the summer.
At one point Chelsea were just two points behind leaders Liverpool and there was a lot of talk about the title, but Maresca consistently played that down and now you can see why.
Despite the current struggles Maresca has done a brilliant job so far and he’s instilled a clear identity and style of play in such a short space of time, with the players quickly taking his ideas on board.
The Blues have been free flowing in attack and are currently the joint third highest scorers in the league, whilst they have the fifth best defensive record, despite being criticised for their defending.

Maresca has insisted Chelsea are ahead of his expectations, although they will need a strong second half of the season to secure a return to the Champions League.
The 44-year-old has been speaking about management in a recent interview and revealed what he felt the hardest part of the job was.
“It’s the hardest part,” he told ESPN Argentina.
“You have to make the players improve, but at the same time you have to compete, win games. it’s not easy.

“That’s why I say we’re further ahead than I thought we would be at this stage. The players are good and they’re improving, but we can be even better.”
Maresca might have said it’s the hardest part of the job but a number of players have improved under him this season including Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson, and supporters will be hoping the players continue to improve over the second half of the campaign.
