David Moyes makes his return as Everton manager when the Toffees take on Aston Villa in the Premier League tonight.

Moyes leads Everton for the first time in almost 12 years, having returned to the club for a second spell as manager last week. The Scot inherits a struggling side from Sean Dyche, with Everton just a point above the Premier League’s relegation places.

Everton are without a win in five league games but progressed in the FA Cup on Thursday with a 2-0 win over Peterborough.

That win came under the joint-management of club captain Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines, with the latter having been promoted from his role as u-18 manager to join Moyes’s coaching staff. Baines played under Moyes during the latter’s first spell at Goodison Park.

The visitors arrive after also securing FA Cup progress last time out. Aston Villa have been inconsistent in the league of late, however, and are five points outside the Champions League places.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in contention to return from an ankle injury and Moyes has outlined the need for the forward to deliver goals. Everton are the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League and Calvert-Lewin has just two from 19 appearances this season.

Dwight McNeil remains out for the Blues, while neither James Garner or Tim Iroegbunam are ready to return. Armando Broja is waiting to discover the extent of the injury that saw him stretchered off after an innocuous challenge in Thursday’s FA Cup match against Peterborough. It continues a torrid time with injuries for the Albanian.
