A member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona looks all but certain to depart the club this summer.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Iñaki Peña as the player in question.
Goalkeeper Peña has for his part endured something of an unusual campaign in Catalunya’s capital to date.
Cast into an unexpectedly prominent role following the long-term injury suffered by Marc-André ter Stegen, the 26-year-old racked up 19 appearances across all competitions by the turn of the year.
Soon after, however, Peña found himself condemned to backup duties once more.
This came after the Spaniard was usurped in the shot-stopper pecking order in Hansi Flick’s squad by free agent signing Wojciech Szczęsny.
And such developments look set to culminate in Peña bringing a permanent close to his Blaugrana chapter this summer.
As per a report from Sport:
‘He has a contract until June 30, 2026 and everything points to an exit’ this summer.
A number of clubs are understood to be keen on Peña’s signature, albeit with the shot-stopper’s salary likely to prove a stumbling block for at least some suitors.
