Former Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini was still shocked with the way the club dismissed Daniele De Rossi at the start of the new season.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sabatini remarked, “Roma should regret sacking him. It’s the bare minimum.”

“There’s no leadership now. First there was Souloukou who had carte blanche. Now there is confusion,” he added.

“We must remember that Roma is Roma: it must be treated with respect. You have to interact with the city, compare. You cannot take Roma away from the Romans: the lack of communication is a wrong and disrespectful choice.”
