Speaking exclusively with FLW, Lee Hendrie has identified the Swans as a potential landing spot for the former Luton boss.

Speaking exclusively with Football League World, Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie has identified Swansea City as a possible suitor for ex-Luton Town and Watford manager Rob Edwards.

The 42-year-old was relieved of his duties by the Hatters in early January, with the club unable to pull away from the relegation battle they've been embroiled in throughout the campaign.

Edwards has been out of work ever since, and should he still be looking for his next role come the summer, the Welshman would surely be an intriguing option to any second tier side thinking of, or indeed having already made a managerial change.

The Swans are currently searching for their next permanent manager, having departed with Luke Williams in February.

"He'll be successful" - Lee Hendrie makes Rob Edwards Swansea City job claim

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, pundit and former player Lee Hendrie believes that Swansea City could be an ideal destination for Edwards in the near future.

He said: "Rob Edwards, I think he's had to take a step back.

"You could see that he was under immense pressure at Luton, particularly with what he'd done, and he certainly overachieved with the budget that they had to get into the Premier League.

"He's a very motivated guy, and you can see that he wears his heart on his sleeve. That's one thing that stands out with Rob, and knowing him myself as a player at Aston Villa.

"He was always that sort of guy who's got a great temperament, and obviously a disappointment that he left Luton. But yes, I think there will be clubs that will certainly be looking to take Rob.

"He went in at Watford and had a good spell, and that was a big shock that he left there. He's did it at Forest Green where he had success with promotion, and obviously he's done it with Luton on a real low budget.

"So, it would not surprise me in the slightest that he'll be linked with any job that comes available. The key factor with Rob is that he's got to pick the one that's going to be right for him in certain respects.

"It's pointless him going to a team where he's going to find it difficult, maybe on a lower budget. I think he's got the potential of being at the top end of the Championship if that's the case.

"Maybe a project. There's lots of clubs that probably will be looking at him; the likes of Swansea. So it wouldn't surprise me if Rob's in a job pretty soon. I think he'll be successful as he has been in his previous jobs."

Rob Edwards would fit Swansea City's managerial model

To varying degrees of success, Swansea City have persisted with their philosophy of hiring young, less experienced and upcoming managers in recent times.

Williams, Michael Duff, Russell Martin, Steve Cooper, Graham Potter, Paul Clement and Garry Monk to name a few that fall into one of, if not all of those categories.

Edwards, whilst having gathered a significant amount of experience in EFL management, is still very much in the relative infancy of his career, and has proven himself as being a coach who knows how to win promotion.

Therefore, despite his disappointing campaign with Luton this term, Edwards should still have a significant amount of credit in the bank on his CV for a club such as Swansea to feel confident that he could come in and lead them towards a brighter future.
