Dean Huijsen seems set to join Real Madrid, prompting Liverpool and PSG to explore other defensive options. A new report from Fabrizio Romano sheds light on what ultimately swung the deal in the Spanish club’s favor.

Despite signing Willian Pacho, the reigning French champions remain in the market for another center-back. With questions surrounding Milan Skriniar’s future, PSG may now prioritize a younger option with long-term potential.

CaughtOffside previously reported that several top clubs — including Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and PSG — have been keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old.

Huijsen is quickly making his mark in the Premier League and already ranks among Europe’s top young defenders. If PSG decide to revisit their interest, they’ll be entering a competitive race — and one that won’t come cheap.

According to GIVE ME SPORT, Bournemouth expect Huijsen’s £50 million release clause to be triggered this summer.

On Wednesday, Romano reported that Xabi Alonso pushed Real Madrid to speed up talks for Huijsen, viewing the young defender as an ideal and immediate addition to the squad.

Premier League clubs had already made moves to sign Huijsen last week, but the player opted to wait, giving priority to Real Madrid. A crucial meeting to advance the deal took place on Monday.

Romano recently reported that Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal are all prepared to trigger Huijsen’s release clause and are in talks with his camp. Still, as the transfer saga nears its end, the young defender seems increasingly likely to join Real Madrid.
