Despite the ongoing fight off the pitch, Pep Guardiola’s side are still focused on the task at hand; the 2024/25 season. Heading into the international break, the Blues find themselves one point off the top of the Premier League, and remain unbeaten after seven games.

That focus can surely be tough to keep sometimes for the Etihad outfit, who recently learned the verdict of the case pertaining to associated party transactions (APT), separate from the ongoing case regarding the 115 charges.

In an official statement from the club, the decision of the case appeared to fall in their favour, as a some of the Premier League rules regarding APT were deemed ‘unlawful’. But the Premier League’s own interpretation of the verdict seems to lean more positively in their own favour.

Yet with all of this going on behind the scenes, those around Manchester City remain confident that results on the pitch will not be impacted. Legendary former Etihad Stadium striker Sergio Aguero had his say on the matter.

“I don’t think it’s (the ongoing case) had an impact,” Sergio Aguero told Goal in a recent interview. “You can see it when we play. There’s the same mettle, the same desire to win,” he continued.

The Argentine also added that he believes Manchester City has won their Premier League titles “fair and square”. He added, “I can say that our achievements as a team, on the field, were won with effort and sportsmanship.”

Sergio Aguero was an integral part of five Premier League triumphs for the Etihad Stadium club; all of five which fall during the era in which the club are accused of breaching financial rules and regulations.

Presently however, the verdict of the trial regarding the 115 charges will surely have some impact on the current season, as it is reportedly set to be revealed in the early months of 2025 — arguably the most important months of the campaign for the Blues.
