FIGC President Gabriele Gravina denies putting pressure on Milan, forcing the Rossoneri to drop Fabio Paratici: ‘He can’t operate, but no rule prevents him from being put under contract.’

Gravina has replied to claims that Milan received strong pressure, even on a “federal level”, to abandon their deal with Paratici.

The ex-Juventus director is serving a 30-month ban ending on July 20, but had reached a verbal agreement to become the Milan sporting director in 2025-26.

“I’ve read that somebody has linked my name to a hypothesis of this kind. Absolutely not,” Gravina said on Wednesday via Calciomercato.com.

“Milan or anyone else can get Paratici who, as well know, is not allowed to operate until July 2025. He can’t operate, but no rule prevents him from being put under contract.”

Milan have resumed their search for a new sporting director, and recent reports in Italy claimed Atalanta’s Tony D’Amico, alongside Igli Tare, was the leading candidate for the role.

The ex-Lazio director has already held talks with Milan owner Gerry Cardinale and RedBird Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Still, CEO Giorgio Furlani will have the final say in choosing the Rossoneri’s sporting director for the upcoming campaign.

Milan currently sit 9th in the Serie A table, outside a European placement, so they are also expected to hire a new coach for 2025-26, replacing Sergio Conceiçao.
