Manchester United are lining up five potential free transfers in the summer.

The Red Devils, like most teams, are under severe financial restrictions that could have a major impact on the team’s summer spending.

Despite this, United are very keen to bring in new players as they want to build a team that is capable of playing Ruben Amorim’s style of football.

Fichajes report that the club are targeting five different players who could come in on a free as their contracts expire this summer.

“Manchester United are looking to strengthen their squad without making large outlays and have set their sights on five players who are out of contract in the summer,” the outlet claims.

“Lille striker Jonathan David is seen as an option to strengthen the attack, while Everton’s Calvert-Lewin is also on the list as an attacking alternative.”

The Red Devils do desperately need a striker and despite links to Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen, a move for the likes of David could be a smart move.

Nonetheless, it has been reported that the Canadian is close to agreeing a deal with FC Barcelona which would take him off the market quite quickly.

Many fans would also scratch their head at a move for Calvert-Lewin as he has struggled to play his best football for a number of years now and has certainly not lived up to his potential.

“In midfield, Angel Gomes is an interesting possibility, as the United academy product has shown great growth at Lille and could return to Old Trafford with more experience.”

This move would certainly go down well with fans, who would love to see the technical academy product return and such is his rise that he has been called up to the England squad.

The 24 year old is said to be “open” to a move and Amorim reportedly likes the player, so perhaps this is a deal that could have traction.

United also have a desire to strengthen their defence and the Spanish outlet have linked them with a move for long-term target Jonathan Tah in the summer.

What’s more, Fichajes say United are keen to acquire the services of former Premier League winner Leroy Sane, who has been touted for a return to England for months.

As per Transfermarkt, the market value of the five United targets is €167 million (£139m), so if the Red Devils can pull off most or all of the deals it could represent fantastic business for the club.
